Waterfalls with natural pools, hazelnut groves, olive groves and views over the Ribeira de São Cibrão valley make for a challenging but highly rewarding walk.

A natural feature turned a quiet village into a destination: the Cachão da Malhadinha waterfall, on the Ribeira de Melhe — in fact two or three falls, with natural pools that invite a summer swim. The route draws a triangle between Negreda, Eiras Maiores and Melhe. From the old school in Negreda, with a detour to the well-kept church, it drops down the valley to the waterfall, then climbs about 2 km to Eiras Maiores, with views unfolding over the Ribeira de São Cibrão valley; Eiras is of rural origin (the threshing floors — "eiras"). Across the Eiras plateau it heads to Melhe through chestnut and olive groves; Melhe is the largest of the three villages. To the south, it crosses the plateau about 3 km before descending to Negreda, admiring the banks of the Ribeira de São Cibrão. A demanding route in length and climbing, but of great scenic reward.Quick answers
