Centre: Vinhais

A route combining nature, history and tradition. Its greatest highlight is the Roman road that gives it its name, a vestige of Moimenta's ancient routes. But there is more: the Miradouro de Moimenta with its 360° view, a spectacular single-track down to the Rio Tuela, bridges (the Ponte do Couço and a medieval one) and a final visit to Moimenta, an "Aldeia de Portugal", with its church, tavern and Smuggling Museum. Climbing the southeast slope among oaks and chestnut trees, the route rejoins the Tuela and the medieval bridge to change banks; then begin the two kilometres of the Roman road climb, past the Fraga das Almas and the Cigadonha hillfort. A demanding but dense walk — nature, archaeology and heritage on a single trail.
