Tresmonte
The forgotten farmstead above the Rabaçal
Starting and ending in Gestosa, in western Montesinho, this route descends to the River Rabaçal via Quinta de Tresmonte, now in ruins but once a thriving agricultural centre. Passing by the Queimadas and Calçada viewpoints, and with a brief detour via the Medieval Bridge of Gestosa, it reveals a landscape with a character all of its own.

Centre: Vinhais
In Gestosa, in the western Montesinho Natural Park, the landscape differs from that of Moimenta or Dine. The route drops to the Rio Rabaçal by the Quinta de Tresmonte — until the late 1970s an important farming and livestock estate, now in ruins: it once held three dozen people, over 150 sheep and around 20 cattle, with an oven, wine cellar, press and plunge spring. From the Rua do Regadio, past preserved houses, a path leads to the farmstead, with views of fields, vines and pastures and of the banks of the Rabaçal. By the Miradouro das Queimadas the descent begins, on an old path, to the medieval bridge of Gestosa (a 30 m detour leads right onto the bridge, over the deeply carved valley). Parallel to the river, the route climbs back to Gestosa; by the Miradouro da Calçada it bids farewell to the Rabaçal. It is suggested to add the village church and the Museu das Terras de Lomba.Quick answers
