A portrait of Trás-os-Montes rural life, linking the three villages of the Candedo parish. Candedo lives from farming — cereals, olive oil, wine, honey and chestnuts — and its heritage is significant: the churches of Candedo and Espinhoso, chapels, the Ponte de Guedim, the communal oven and watermills. The Nossa Senhora das Dores pilgrimage, in September, is one of the three largest in the municipality. Clockwise, the route follows the Camino de Santiago to Aboá, a small hamlet, then to Espinhoso, crossing chestnut groves, olive groves and vines. In Espinhoso, the larger and more modern settlement, it is the right place to refuel at a café. The route continues through quiet farmland, drops to the Ribeira de Vilar and faces its hardest climb back to Candedo. The entrance from the south is the most interesting: the old part of the village, a leisure area with a spring, the restored communal oven, ending at the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora das Dores.Quick answers
